Accessibility in Austin-Things to Do

Austin is the beautiful capitol of the great state of Texas. Known as the live music capital of the world, the city has a lot to offer for a great vacation and there are lots of things to do that are scooter accessible! Here are some things you can do while enjoying your stay in Austin:

The State Capitol:

Open daily, the State Capitol offers guided tours and the building is also open to the public if you want to explore on your own. The hallways are large and abundant, as well as the hallways are wide enough to accommodate a scooter with ease.

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center:

Guided tours are available and it is free for members, young children under 4 and University of Texas students and staff. The entire trail is scooter accessible as well.

ACL Live and Stubb’s music venues:

These venues are some of the city’s most ADA-accessible. ACL Live has priority seating on the ground and other levels, and Stubb’s has the option to sit closer to the stage so you can take in all of the live music you desire!

Esther’s Follies:

Austin’s longest running comedy and theater troupe is not only entertaining, but is also scooter accessible! You can rent out the whole place for a glorious party performance you’ll never forget!

The Zilker Nature Preserve:

Similar to the Wildflower Center, the nature preserve is scooter accessible, with pathways and trails for you to explore at your leisure.

South Congress Ave:

A great place to hang out downtown filled with food, shopping, bars and live music. It’s a great way to see why “Keep Austin Weird” is the city’s motto!
