The Future of Mobility Scooters

In 2016 a survey was conducted by the Research Institute for Consumer Affairs. The survey found that the global mobility scooter market was valued at over $1 Billion and this number is expected to rise to nearly $2 Billion by 2021! Of the group that participated in the survey 74% of the participants said that they would not be able to make the same journeys without the use of their scooter and 73% reported that they would not be able to travel outside of their local area without their scooter. Of the participant group 45% said that they use their scooter to travel on the road! It’s important to note that the study confirmed what we already know: that not just those that are elderly require mobility scooters. Over half of the participants that completed the survey were under the age of 65!

What does all of this mean? It means that the demand for mobility scooters is only going to rise especially with life expectancy rates increasing along with complexity of illnesses. This also means that we can look forward to manufacturers continuing to produce more quality products to meet the growing demand. It looks like the future for mobility scooters is very positive!
